KARACHI,  (daily paklish): Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer Monem Zafar Khan along with Amir District Gulberg Central Kamran Siraj and Town Chairman Liaquatabad Faraz Haseeb inaugurated the first public mortuary in the town.

Later talking to media representatives, Monem Zafar Khan said Liaquatabad Town is the first town in Karachi which has established a mortuary in the city. He was of the view that the dignity of human body even after death is a collective responsibility of people.

“During heatstroke in Karachi in 2015, more than 1,100 people died as per conservative estimats, while as per unofficial information these deaths were not less than 5,000 in any case, people kept wandering distressed to keep bodies of their loved ones in mortuaries,” he said while talking about the importance of the facility.

He further said that instead of delivering to Karachiites, it seems that the mayor was on a revenge spree against Karachi and Karachiites for rejecting the PPP.

The JI leader said that Karachi civic issues were birthed by the people rejected by Karachiites and  imposed on the city through electoral rigging.

Channesar Town became Channesar Goth because of the PPP, he said while highlighting the performance of towns other than the JI. Where is the circular rail, where the mono train, why the project was shifted to Lahore, he raised a question.

When one town of the JI can establish the mortuary, why cannot the provincial government of PPP and the KMC, because establishing mortuaries is primarily work of provincial government and KMC, he added.

Monem Zafar Khan further said population of Karachi has exceeded 30 million and this city is economic hub of the country, Karachi provides 67 per cent revenue to national exchequer while 95 per cent share of Sindh’s budget but despite that people of Karachi are deprived of basic facilities, be it federation or province, none is ready to give Karachi its due right.

Jamaat-e-Islami will continue to struggle for solution of problems of Karachiites, 9 towns of Jamaat-e-Islami despite lack of powers and limited resources have done so much work in 3 years which PPP has not done even in 18 years of its rule.

PPP makes and inaugurates such projects where doors of corruption are open for it, where not needed it builds overhead bridges and underpasses, he said.

Later in the day, Monem Zafar Khan also visited urban forest in front of Sirajuddaula Government College under Liaquatabad Town. On this occasion Information Secretary Zahid Askari, Vice Town Chairman Ishaq Taimoori, UC Chairmen Ubaid Ahmed, Moeen Abbas Madani, Irshad Ahmed and other elected representatives and councillors were also present.
