SRINAGAR, (DAILY PAKLISH): Advocate Arshad Iqbal, Spokesperson for the Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP), has expressed profound gratitude, on behalf of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for expressing solidarity with the people of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and raising his voice at the United Nations in support of a just and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
Advocate Arshad Iqbal said that President Erdogan’s continued expression of support for the Kashmiri people at international forums is a source of encouragement for them. He said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir deeply appreciate Türkiye’s political and diplomatic support and hope that President Erdogan and the Turkish leadership will continue to extend such support and advocate the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination at the international level.
The JKDFP spokesperson also expressed his gratitude to Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, for presenting the Kashmir issue firmly and effectively at the OIC Contact Group meeting. He said that Pakistan, being a principal party to the Kashmir dispute, has an important responsibility to continue highlighting the aspirations and legitimate rights of the Kashmiri people at regional and international forums.
He appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to keep the Kashmir issue prominently on the agenda of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and to ensure that the voice of the Kashmiri people reaches the international community. He said that the continued engagement of Pakistan and other supportive countries at international and Islamic diplomatic forums remains important for maintaining international attention on the long-standing Kashmir dispute.
Advocate Arshad Iqbal said that the Kashmir issue is not merely a bilateral or regional matter but a longstanding international dispute involving the fundamental right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He stressed that its durable resolution must be based on the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and the relevant resolutions of the United Nations.
