Tehran (Daily Paklish) – Iran claimed on Friday that it had carried out fresh attacks on US facilities in the Gulf. The attacks came after a sixth consecutive day of US attacks on Iranian military facilities, effectively ending a ceasefire agreed last month and turning the situation into a never-ending series of daily attacks and retaliations.
The US military said it had carried out another night of airstrikes to further weaken Iran’s military capabilities. The strikes also targeted areas around Qeshm Island and Bandar Abbas, home to Iran’s largest port and key Revolutionary Guard military bases.
US Central Command said in a statement that US forces had struck dozens of Iranian military targets using highly accurate weapons, including coastal surveillance and air defense installations, military logistics infrastructure and naval combat capabilities.
Iran has also launched missiles and drones at US military bases in neighboring countries, including an air base in Jordan.
Early Friday morning, the Iranian military claimed it had also targeted US military installations in Bahrain and Kuwait.
A witness said several explosions were heard in the Qatari capital Doha, while the Qatari Interior Ministry said a child was injured by shrapnel from a shell or missile.
Iranian media reported that five bridges were hit in the latest wave of US strikes, while the railway station in the coastal city of Bandar Khmer and Iranshahr airport in southeastern Iran were also hit. The state news agency IRNA said seven people were killed in US strikes on bridges in the southern Iranian port city of Bandar Khmer.
Reuters could not immediately independently confirm the reports.
