PESHAWAR (manend News) – The formal inauguration of the first-ever
post-graduate (PhD, M.Phil )classes at the Department of Islamic
Studies, Riphah International University (RIU) Peshawar Campus, was
held. Prof. Dr. Qibla Ayaz, former Chairman of the Council of Islamic
Ideology, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest to mark the
commencement of the department’s advanced academic sessions.
Addressing the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Qibla Ayaz highlighted Riphah’s
significant role in the dissemination of quality knowledge. He
emphasized the necessity of an indigenous education system to develop
scholars capable of tackling modern social complexities. Dr. Ayaz urged
the inaugural batch of students to look beyond simple coursework and
notes, striving instead for in-depth knowledge and rigorous research to
address contemporary challenges, particularly issues within the family
system.
Prof. Dr. Najibul Haq, Patron of the Prime Foundation, emphasized the
profound responsibility of students and scholars as the “heirs of the
Prophets.” He stated that the Ulema must act as guides to unite the
Ummah and provide a research-based shield against cultural invasions. He
stressed that academic research must find practical applications to
remain useful for the progress of society.
Prof. Dr.Zahoor Swati, former Vice Chancellor  Agriculture university
and Director of RIU Peshawar Campus, welcomed the guests and students
while detailing the aims and objectives of the program. He stated that
the university’s mission is for the Department of Islamic Studies to
serve as a “Model Department” focused on character building, ultimately
becoming a role model in higher education by producing graduates who
embody Islamic values and academic excellence.
The formally performed the ribbon-cutting to mark the session’s start.
Prof. Dr. Sahib Islam, Chairman of the Department of Islamic Studies,
then led a collective prayer (Dua) for the success of this noble
academic cause.
